About

252 320x240 04 tree web About I have been drawing and painting ever since I can remember. One of the great joys I got out of life when I was a child was lying on the shag rug carpet with my pencils, markers and pens and drawing my cats, horses, and other animals, creating my own little world for me to retreat into.

Although the colour of the rug has changed, the materials used are a bit more expensive but other than that not a lot has changed. My formal art training includes Central Technical School in Toronto, Sheridan College, Humber College and many specialty courses and lessons. My education covered a wide variety of media and techniques. The need to earn a living drew me to web and graphic design.

It was only natural that I continued to drawn animals and nature into my adulthood, just as I had done when I was younger. At first I painted from photos, but slowly I started doing on location drawings of both animals and people. These are done in black biro on paper and coloured with watercolour pencil crayons.

Working from photos is a different endeavour all together. Achieving the likeness and spriit of an animal from a photo and description is challenging and very rewarding. When people thank me for a creating a lasting memory I cannot help but feel good.

No one medium is my favourite, the one I am working in at the time is the best. I will often work in traditional oil paints, sometimes with an underpainting of acrylic.

I hope you enjoy my artwork!
